Feb. 12 (Bloomberg) — No one could blame David Brown for being piqued at Hugh Hefner. Brown bought a chunk of Playboy Enterprises Inc., believing in the way the company made money, which is mostly by feeding male sexual fantasies.
That formula hasn’t worked so well for shareholders since the birth of X-rated Web sites. The shares, higher than $30 in 1999, dropped below $10 two years ago and have gone nowhere since.
The co-founder of video Web site Veoh confirmed Wednesday night that the recession and legal troubles have prompted the site to file for bankruptcy.
“Unfortunately, great vision, a passionate team, tens of millions of users, millions in revenues and victory in court were not enough,” co-founder Dmitry Shapiro wrote in a note on his Web site. “The distraction of the legal battles and the challenges of the broader macro-economic climate have led to our Chapter 7 bankruptcy.” Read more

The research, on how porn affects people’s work, finances and relationships, is being led by Dr Gomathi Sitharthan at theUniversity of Sydney’s Graduate Program in Sexual Health.

An internet protest group has launched an attack on Government websites in a protest against the proposed internet filter and censorship of some pornography.
The attack, dubbed Operation Titstorm by the group known as Anonymous, brought down a number of Government websites this morning, with the Parliament House site remaining offline well into the afternoon.
