A man renting a storage unit near Love Field in Dallas found an unpleasant surprise locked inside this week — a large stash of pornography, police said.

Dallas police have sealed off the unit at Uncle Bob’s Self-Storage in the 9400 block of Hargrove Drive until investigators from the child exploitation unit examine the photos to ensure no children were involved, Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse, a police spokesman, said today.

Most of the pornography appeared to be of adults, he said.

“This might not be anything criminal,” he said. “If you are going to break the law, you aren’t going to leave it and abandon it. It would easy to track it back to the owner.”

The manager of the storage facility rented the unit to a new customer after the previous renter stopped making payments in April, Cpl. Janse said.  When the new renter showed up Monday, he found the stash of pornography and called police.

Police don’t know the identity of the previous renter, Cpl. Janse said.

A manager from Uncle Bob’s referred comment to her area manager, who was not available today.
