EAST HARTFORD, Conn. - The East Hartford Town Council has unanimously approved a new ordinance dealing with sexually oriented businesses.
The council says the new ordinance sets a standard that is defensible in court. It outlines regulations for the licensing and conduct at adult oriented businesses such as strip clubs.
The council had been working for months on the ordinance. It requires strict licensing rules and sets clear boundaries on what is allowed to take place within sexually oriented businesses.
The approval for the new ordinance, which will go into effect 21 days after it is published, comes as two developers are seeking to build new strip clubs in town.
Both proposed sites are outside of zones designated for such use by the town’s zoning regulations.
