A former nurse at a secure state center for sexual predators has pleaded guilty to cocaine charges related to a smuggling scheme that saw her lover — a rapist — receive drugs and pornography while detained at the McNeil Island facility.

Jailed since June after violating conditions of her pretrial release, ex-Special Commitment Center nurse Barbara Boardman pleaded guilty misdemeanor charges filed against her in U.S. District Court following an FBI investigation into contraband at the facility.

Federal prosecutors claimed Boardman smuggled drugs to and created pornography for Lawrence Williams, an adjudicated sexual predator held at the Department of Social and Health Services center on McNeil Island. Read more

Indonesia has threatened to close BlackBerry service in the country if it refuses to block pornographic content. Indonesian Communication and Information Minister Tifatul Sembiring said on Tuesday that he had requested the Canada-based Research In Motion, the maker of BlackBerry, to block adult content for its service in the country, Xinhua said, citing local media reports.

“If they are still not responding to our request, we have to close it down,” the minister said.

According to the minister the banning on pornographic site on the internet is in line with the country’s 2008 anti-pornography law. “RIM may violate our law if it remains providing porn content in its service (in Indonesia),” Tifatul said.

An Ohio truck driver has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after his rig hit a disabled car on a New York highway while his laptop computer streamed pornography.Authorities say Thomas Wallace of Brook Park, Ohio, had little sleep before the Dec. 12 crash on the New York State Thruway that killed Julie Stratton of Snyder, N.Y.

He pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree manslaughter.

Stratton hit a deer and her car was disabled in the passing lane shortly before Wallace’s tractor-trailer struck it from behind. The accident happened in Pembroke, about 20 miles east of Buffalo.

The 45-year-old trucker faces five to 15 years in prison when he is sentenced in September.

The company behind a proposal to create .xxx, an adults-only top-level internet domain, is set to run the gauntlet of objections from angry pornographers and appalled Christians for the sixth time.

ICANN last week published a draft contract that, if signed, could allow Florida-based ICM Registry to start offering .xxx domains as early as next summer, and opened up a 30-day public comment period.

Pornographers led by the Free Speech Coalition are already asking ICANN to kill the proposal. They claim ICM’s application is little more than a balls-out effort to bilk them out of money during a time of economic hardship and rampant piracy.

Alfred Justin Boulerice faces charges of trespassing, tampering with evidence and making a false report to law enforcement.

The investigation began last year, when someone anonymously called police and said they saw child pornography on a computer belonging to Gerald Lamothe. He was arrested and charged, but exonerated in February after an informant told police the pictures were planted.

The 29-year-old Boulerice’s last known address was in Vero Beach, but police aren’t sure where he is now. He’s known in the community after running for school board, and worked for years as a religious counselor after leaving the priesthood and getting married.

Changing the law would be difficult, and raise legitimate concerns about censorship. It would be far better for Craigslist to comply with the AGs’ reasonable request.
